Lebanon Has Fallen: A Warning to the Nations?

| sun, january 23, 2011 |

Some very interesting developments have taken place regarding Lebanon and Washington, D.C., in the recent weeks. I believe that these developments are intrinsic for the fulfillment of End-time Biblical prophecy.

Last week on January 12, while Lebanon Prime Minister Hariri was meeting with President Obama1 at the White House2, the Lebanese ministers representing the terrorist faction of Hezbollah walked out of the government. This walkout by the ministers of Hezbollah effectively collapsed the government of Lebanon, thus the US allied PM Hariri was removed from his position of power, paving the way for the Syrian/Iranian backed Hezbollah to take the reins of power.

Exactly a week later, January 19, on behalf of the Palestinians, Lebanon submitted a resolution to seek UN condemnation of Israeli "settlement activity." This was seen by many as an attempt by the Palestinians to pave the way to UN recognition of a unilateral declaration of independence in the contested regions of Judea, Samaria, and East Jerusalem. This motion has been temporarily blocked3 by the US in what seems like a conflict in approach towards the ultimate outcome of an independent Palestinian state rather than the US seeking the best interest of Israel.

So far, with 122 co-sponsors4 like Security Council members Bosnia, Brazil, India, Nigeria, and South Africa, the resolution, reportedly still being revised, seeks for the Security Council to adopt a stance that would:

  • 1. Reaffirms that the Israeli settlements established in the Palestinian Territory occupied since 1967, including East Jerusalem, are illegal and constitute a major obstacle to the achievement of a just, lasting and comprehensive peace;
  • 2. Reiterates its demand that Israel, the occupying Power, immediately and completely ceases all settlement activities in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and that it fully respect all of its legal obligations in this regard;
  • 3. Calls upon both parties to act on the basis of international law and their previous agreements and obligations, including under the Roadmap, aimed, inter alia, at improving the situation on the ground, building confidence and creating the conditions necessary for promoting the peace process;
  • 4. Calls upon all parties to continue, in the interest of the promotion of peace and security, with their negotiations on the final status issues in the Middle East peace process according to its agreed terms of reference and within the timeframe specified by the Quartet in its statement of 21 September 2010;
  • 5. Urges in this regard the intensification of international and regional diplomatic efforts to support and invigorate the peace process towards the achievement of a comprehensive, just and lasting peace in the Middle East. (emphasis mine)

Even though this resolution was reportedly blocked by the US from being adopted by a Security Council vote on Wednesday, January 19, Mark Toner of the US State Department was quoted the following day during the State Department daily press briefing5 as not wanting to comment on whether or not the US would veto the resolution when it is presented to the Security Council.

QUESTION: Yesterday a group of former politicians, including former Defense Secretary Carlucci, they signed an open letter to President Obama urging him not to veto any kind of Security Council resolutions calling for the illegitimacy of settlements, because if he did, quote "that will bring the issue of use credibility into question." Are you aware of the letter?

MR. TONER: We're aware of the letters - the letter, rather, and just refer you to the Secretary's remarks following her bilateral this morning with the Estonian foreign minister. We're not going to - I'm not going to speculate on how we might vote, but we've made very clear our - both our policy on settlements as well as our belief that action in the United Nations or any other forum is not particularly helpful.

QUESTION: Okay. But in the letter, it also calls on the President, if he is unhappy with the language for calling the settlements illegal and so on, that they should come up with a new language. Is that something that is being contemplated in the State Department?

MR. TONER: Again, we've been very clear that we believe fundamentally that the United Nations is not the right forum for this. We want to see both sides get back into direct talks because it's only through that we can get - reach a framework agreement and eventually a solution to this. (emphasis mine)

The letter6 that the questioner was referring to is equally disturbing. This letter can be read here.

The well-informed Debkafile reported7 on January 22:

Israel and the US are set for a collision if President Barack Obama stands by his refusal to veto a Palestinian-Arab motion due to be tabled at the UN Security Council condemning Israel for its settlement policy in the West Bank and Jerusalem, debkafile's Washington sources report. If he did, he would be the first US president to let an anti-Israel motion go through the Security Council; building on the West Bank and even in the forty-year old suburbs of East Jerusalem would become illegal, as would also municipal, police and military actions in these places. (emphasis mine) (Click here to read full report)

Time will tell if this report is true, but the collision between the United States of America and Israel over the continued settlement expansions is certain.

This is not the first time that sources have reported this type of position from the Obama administration regarding abstaining from vetoing resolutions condemning "illegal Israeli settlements" presented to the UN Security Council.

The BBC reported8 on March 28, 2010, that during an economic forum held the previous week in Paris, the issue of whether the US would abstain from vetoing a possible UN Security Council resolution condemning Israeli "settlements" in East Jerusalem was raised between a US official and the Foreign Minister of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad Al Thani. A diplomat who was present reported the conversation to the BBC, stating that when the US official was asked by the Qatari FM if the US would promise to abstain from a veto, the US official replied by saying the US would "seriously consider abstaining."

Israel National News reported9 that an Egyptian official later confirmed the US position during a private meeting at the Arab League summit.

On April 19*, 2010, a day before the infamous Deepwater Horizon drilling rig exploded taking the lives of 11 people and injuring 15 others before it began its unprecedented and historic flood of sweet crude into the Gulf of Mexico, Fox News published an article titled Obama and Israel: Showdown at the UN?10 The article asked if the Obama administration was signaling a major shift in its Security Council veto policy towards Israel, citing the reports that had surfaced several weeks prior concerning the unnamed US official's remarks to the Qatari Foreign Minister stating that the US would "seriously consider abstaining" from a veto condemning Israeli building in East Jerusalem.

When Fox News asked Daniel Levy, the Director of the Middle East Task Force at the New America Foundation in Washington, what he thought of the report, he disagreed. Even though he felt that it was not the current position of the Obama administration, he did feel it was a likely position the Obama administration could adopt "if Israel were to continue to flout its own commitments, undermine the possibility of a two-state solution, or if in the context of a peace process impasse, the US and its Quartet allies were to advance their own plan, then under those circumstances it is conceivable that the US would support or abstain on a UN Security Council vote".

(*Note: This was the day Israel celebrated its 62nd Independence Day, to which President Obama gave a less than sincere statement of congratulations11 that seemed to contradict the reports circulating about his potential policy shift regarding veto power traditionally favorable towards the Israelis.)

Almost a year later and the perception in Washington feels eerily similar to the description given by Mr. Levy which would lead the Obama administration to "seriously consider abstaining" from vetoing a potentially damning resolution. I can't help but wonder if this shift in policy contributed to the Divine judgment, which gushed out upon this nation in the form of the Deepwater Horizon. Reports are still surfacing, though not by the mainstream media, that the broken riser from the Deepwater Horizon has been capped, but that the attempts to cap the well have created new problems manifesting in fissures and cracks12 which are proving resistant to grouting. Scientists13 familiar with the situation have stated that the situation is not finished, but that it is a problem that continues to grow each day. Whether or not these reports are true, which I tend to believe they are, will only be known in time. The Deepwater Horizon seems to be judgment unfolding in stages, with each stage setting the US on course for a climax of unprecedented destruction.

Alarming Evidence of a Leaking Macondo Prospect: The BP Gulf Oil Spill Continues

BK Lim cites NOVEMBER videos showing "oil seepages, gas columns, fissures and blowout craters" around Macondo wellhead (VIDEOS)

On February 5, 2009, two weeks after President Obama took the oath of Office, I felt compelled by the HOLY SPIRIT to post Collapse, Destruction, and our Back Against Israel. Here are a few excerpts, which seem to be timelier than ever.

Israel and the Obama administration will begin to strain ties, the ties will come to a breaking point. The pride of the Obama administration will be the cause of the split and the trigger for America's fall. She (Israel) will act without the consent of the Obama administration, thus causing the prideful administration to cut her off. She (America) will have lost her saving grace; she will be now as another nation who curses the apple of God's eye. This will be the beginning of her tragic collapse.

The economy will soon collapse under the failed bailouts and trillions that were thrown to the swine.

Natural disasters unlike any seen to date will begin upon her shores causing immense destruction in its wake. She (America) will shake, she will burn, and she will drown. All will know the name of God, but few will run to His Pavilion. The heart of her will be torn; she will lose the lifeblood of her body, left only with her members barely intact. She will be as a ship with no sail, no rudder, and no captain. Alone she will be, accompanied only by the idols she so passionately held.

I trembled when I wrote these words and I tremble now as I reflect back upon them.

I feel it would be a terrible act of carelessness on my part to dismiss the reports regarding the potential policy shift the Obama administration is weighing.

The ties between the US and Israel are certainly strained.

I feel that if the Obama administration decides to abstain from a veto, this could bring the fraying ties to a breaking point. Each time Israel approves another housing unit to be built in the "disputed territories" without the consent of the Obama administration, this is seen as Israel's attempt to undermine the US led "peace negotiations," therefore, each time the Israelis act upon their God given right to build upon the Promised Land the US and international community respond with condemnation. The US and the world covet a Palestinian state, so blinded by their idolatress desire, the nations of the whole world ignore the price of sure judgment that will be rendered unto each. The price of this rebellion is so great, it will come at the expense of the United States of America's existence and tribulation for the remainder of the world.

I believe that the collapse of the Lebanese government is directly connected to their participation with the Palestinians as a conduit to present the resolution condemning Israeli "settlements." If this connection to judgment is true, how great of a consequence will be rendered unto the United States of America as Israel's ally, who has the power to veto this resolution, but instead chooses to abstain? I believe this is a warning to all the nations of the world.

To curse the borders that JEHOVAH established, borders no man should change, is to curse the birthright of JESUS CHRIST; it is upon this very land, within these borders HE shall expand, that HIS righteous kingdom will be established.

And now, I pray you, consider from this day and upward, from before a stone was laid upon a stone in the temple of the LORD: Since those days were, when one came to an heap of twenty measures, there were but ten: when one came to the pressfat for to draw out fifty vessels out of the press, there were but twenty. I smote you with blasting and with mildew and with hail in all the labours of your hands; yet ye turned not to me, saith the LORD. Consider now from this day and upward, from the four and twentieth day of the ninth month, even from the day that the foundation of the LORD'S temple was laid, consider it. Haggai 2:15-18

Like it or not, the current state of Israel is the active timepiece of Biblical prophecy, validated by the WORD of JEHOVAH through the prophets of old and observable in JEHOVAH'S promise to deliver the land back to His children after the completion of their appointed time of punishment, to which was fulfilled on the very day the prophet Haggai prophesied, the 24th of Kislev, or December 9, 1917. The land was delivered by the British defeat of the Turks, which led to the Balfour Declaration. Jews from all over the world began to make aliyah14 to the Promised Land; JEHOVAH had opened back up the door to the "land" that would bring the Jewish people back into the Promised Land free from the Ottoman Empire. This set in motion the events that would further validate the prophecies of Scripture foretelling JEHOVAH'S plan for Israel to be a nation once again.

And I will bring again the captivity of my people of Israel, and they shall build the waste cities, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and drink the wine thereof; they shall also make gardens, and eat the fruit of them. And I will plant them upon their land, and they shall no more be pulled up out of their land which I have given them, saith the LORD thy God. Amos 9:14,15

JEHOVAH'S Word is also observable in the 1947 UN vote to end the British control of Palestine, which paved the way for the May 15, 1948, vote creating the State of Israel. JEHOVAH'S Word is also observable in the 6-Day War of 1967, which led to Israel regaining full possession of Jerusalem exactly one Jubilee year from 1917.

(If you are interested in reading more into the Biblically and Historically supported factual proofs of JEHOVAH'S prophetical promises fulfilled that I just cited above and would like to read more for yourself, than I highly recommend reading The 70 Years Prophecy, Jubilee Years, 2300 Days, Elijah, Ezekiel and the End of Days by William F. Dankenbring.)

The prophet Zechariah was one of many prophets of JEHOVAH that warned the nations of the world of the destruction that would surely follow the siege of Judah and Jerusalem.

The burden of the word of the LORD for Israel, saith the LORD, which stretcheth forth the heavens, and layeth the foundation of the earth, and formeth the spirit of man within him. Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem. And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it. Zechariah 12:1-3

And it shall come to pass in that day,that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem. Zechariah 12:9

I believe it would be a grave error to ignore the situation currently taking place in Lebanon. I perceive that this will lead to an End-times scenario war.

I believe it would be a grave error to ignore the shifting winds of change that have blown into Washington, D.C., as this current administration curses the Covenant that JEHOVAH made with Israel, a Covenant that will be fulfilled by the rule and reign of JESUS CHRIST.

In closing I would like to reiterate the following: Washington, D.C., may believe that such a policy shift is merely a conflict with Israel, but in reality, it is a battle she will not win against the ALMIGHTY GOD. If the collapse of Lebanon's government, a long time enemy of Israel, was the result of pushing a UN resolution forward that condemns Israel, then what could happen to the governments of those nations that are co-signing with Lebanon, or worse to the United States of America, the long time ally of Israel, if she abstains from vetoing it?

Could these nations also see some form of destabilization, or even collapse, within their particular government systems?

And I say again, what of the US?

The Obama administration holds one of the 5 veto power positions on the UN Security Council. If President Obama so chooses, he could instruct the US to stand firm against the onslaught of condemnation towards Israel. But if Obama so chooses not to veto this resolution and allows this resolution to go forward, that act alone would be historic. It has never been done before -- an anti-Israeli resolution NOT vetoed by the US.

If Obama chooses such a course for the US, what may follow for the US government could also be historic. If the collapse and destruction of Lebanon's government is, indeed, a warning, then the Obama administration should take heed. For let us not forget, that it was at the VERY TIME that Lebanon's PM Hariri was sitting FACE TO FACE with President Obama that his Lebanese government collapsed. I can't say for sure that Hariri discussed in private with Obama the very resolution his nation had put forth at the UN (though I would assume such a move would be discussed with Israel's "greatest ally") and I can't personally say he appealed for Obama to support not only his position but that of the 122 other nations who have co-signed the resolution, I feel that the answers to these questions are not necessary. I need only to reflect back upon Obama's actions through his first two years towards Israel and specifically towards Prime Minister Netanyahu to believe that he is open to abstaining from a veto without the appeal of others to support such a position.

If Obama were to veto the resolution, the hand of Divine justice may be stayed a little longer, but to not veto the resolution and ignore the warning of what has happened to Lebanon, could mean the same for Washington, D.C., -- destroyed, cut through, as in divinely lacerated by the Sword of David.

Let us pray that the will of the FATHER in Heaven would be done on earth as it is in Heaven. He has not forgotten Israel, nor has HE forgotten HIS plan for Israel.

He is the LORD our God: his judgments are in all the earth. He hath remembered his covenant for ever, the word which he commanded to a thousand generations. Which covenant he made with Abraham, and his oath unto Isaac; And confirmed the same unto Jacob for a law, and to Israel for an everlasting covenant: Saying, Unto thee will I give the land of Canaan, the lot of your inheritance: Psalms 105:7-11

Come LORD JESUS, COME.

God Bless, daniel
